1. Zip 2  


Zip 2 was a company that provided and licensed online city guide to newspapers. The company was founded in 1995 by Elon Musk. Initially, Global Link provided local businesses with an Internet presence by linking their services to searchers and providing directions. In 1999, Global Link received US$3 million in investments from Mohr Davidow Ventures and officially changed its name to Zip2.


2. SpaceX


SpaceX designs, manufacture and launches advanced rockets and spacecraft. The company was founded in 2002 to revolutionize space technology, with the ultimate goal of enabling people to live on other planets. Musk has stated one of his goals is to decrease the cost and improve the reliability of the access to space.

3. Tesla 


He helped fund Tesla, Inc., an electric vehicle and solar panel manufacturer and became its CEO and product architect. Tesla’s mission has been to accelerate the world’s transition to a sustainable energy future. The first Tesla product, the Roadster sports car, debuted in 2008. Tesla also produces two energy storage products, the Powerwall home battery, and the Powerpack industrial-scale battery.

5. X.com 


X.com was an online bank and e-mail payment company, with US$10 million from the sale of Zip2 founded by Elon Musk in November 1999 that later merged with Confinity and was renamed to PayPal. PayPal's early growth was driven mainly by a viral marketing campaign where new customers were recruited when they received money through the service.
